Message: Modain is right. You'd have to modify the engine. New Dak is flex fuel design, made to be used for either (gas or E85). Just pumping in more ethanol won't increase compression or timing, so unless you want to modify the motor so it can't be used with gas, power output will be lower with E85.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: And consequently, less power output equals less MPG. This is progress?
It's politically correct (like I care), but really doesn't provide a real solution to the "problem" being addressed.

Message: Flex Fuel motors will detect what fuel is being used and adjust timing and the mixture. Even if it didnt adjust the timing I could just run more nitrous without retarding the timing. As for the compression I believe the 4.7 HO already has descent compression. Although 11 would be better.

Message: When it's time for a new truck, I think I'll just take that money I'd spend on a new Dakota and invest it in my current Gen III with a new cam, heads, PCM flash, and M1 Intake and I'll have more power than the new 4.7 for less money.
