HEY. I HAVE A 98CC SPORT 4X4 WITH NO CRUISE. WOULD IT BE POSSIABLE TO PUT THAT UPGRADE ON? I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE OUT THE STEERING WHEEL TO ONE WITH THE CONTROLS, FROM A 98. NOW WOULD THE WIRING BE ON MY TRUCK? DO THEY PUT THE SAME WIRING HARNESS ON ALL THE TRUCKS?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

I've been pondering the same thing on my '00. Not sure about all the wiring but I know you'd have to go get a new clock spring for the steering wheel mounted controls. I'm hoping the rest of the wiring is the same. Other than that I dont see it being to hard to install. But I dont know because I haven't done it yet. Good luck!

Hello,

Yes it is possible to add cruise to your truck. It might even be possible to install the OEM cruise with the steering wheel switches, but that may be a lot more expensive than going the aftermarket route, plus you would need a detailed schematic of the new clockspring and associated switches and wiring, which may be hard to come by.

I added cruise to my 2001 CC, and it was pretty simple. I picked up a Rostra cruise from a local truck accessories store. I think it would be cool to somehow integrate factory steering wheel switches too, but I just used the stalk-mounted control that came with the cruise unit. You just drill a hole in the side of the steering column cover, and the mounting angles are fully adjustable. It took about 4 hours to install. Installation wasn't very difficult, and the cruise works great. Has been in for a year and not a single problem with it. Definitely worth it if you take many highway trips. Rostra has a Website, http://www.rostra.com/ if you want to learn more, and their 800 tech support line is pretty good too.

I forgot to mention, the cruise unit cost about $200.00. The place where I got it wanted another $100.00 if they installed it.
