 Subject: plenum gasket replacement

have to replace my plenum gasket on my 5.2L do i need to get the gasket for the manifold to the heads and block? the truck has 163k miles do you also think that i should replace my distributor with a new one or after market one? is there any thing also i should replace while im in there? truck is basicly stock.

Yes I would replace all the intake gaskets.Is there something wrong with the distributor on the truck now?If not I wouldnt replace it.
You can replace it anytime.If I did I would probably go with a stock mopar one,since you truck is stock anyway.
There shouldn't be anything else you would need to replace.Maby the thermostat.

Remove the cap from your distributer. Take hold of the rotor and see if there is side to side movement indicating bad bearings/bushings. If it feels good, that's it. Not much else will go wrong with it construction wise.

thanks alot for the response. this should help with the oil lost and performace lost i have been noticing.
i will check the distributor like you said. i have already replace the thermostat and the rotor and distributor cap and coolant bypass hose. so i guess i will just do the gasket.

Be sure to lable all the wiring and vacume hoses as you take them apart - it will speed up the re-assembly and take alot of the guess work out.
