Message: Well I seen the specs for the Hemi motors Horses today.Heres what I dont understand.Hemi 5.7 Liter is putting out the same Horespower Numbers the 4.7s are exactly thh same I dont see why they cant or dont try to get more out of the Big Bad Hemi. For those of us that wanted to see the Hemis in the Daks forget that. http://www.new-cars.com/2005/2005-dodge-durango.html

Message: I guess the Ram is the only one worthy of the 345 horses.I guess I shoulda checked out the specs on that before I started Flapping my mouth off.But still you would think they would run the 345 horse Hemi in the Durango also I see no point there worse gas milage and only 5 more ponies then the 4.7 they offer in the Durango also.

Message: Josh - it looks like you misread the article. The hemi specs show peak hp at 105 higher than the 4.7; not the 5hp difference you claimed. Also 80 more peak ft/lbs of torque. Those are substantial differences, and still don't even take into account something a few of us often try to clue some of the less experienced guys into - to make neaningful power comparisons, it's much better to look at the power graphs than to make comparisons based on peak #s. Peak #s don't show how much power is available at different rpms; this can vary widely in motors with similar peak #s.

Message: Exactly - very similar #s, with the 5.2 making some more torque down low, and the 4.7 making good high rpm power where the 5.2 runs out of steam.

Message: Kowalski is right, the 5.2 has good low end but in the 80+ range you dont feel yourself sinking in the seat much anymore.

Message: Who cares if they put a hemi in a Dak? I wouldn't buy one of those cheap looking things even if they did, any more than I would buy a shoe box with a hemi in it. But the shoe box would have better styling. lol

Message: The minute DC made the Durango look like a mini
van or small school bus, I knew I never wanted one
anyway. Besides DC can TRY to brain wash the
public telling us how the Hemi gets great gas
mileage, I think most of us know it gets VERY
poor mileage.
HINT; Cutting back to 4 cylinders when coasting!
