Subject: Pittman Arm R & R IP: Logged
Message: I'm trying to Replace the Pittman arm on the Steering box and I got the 34mm Hex Nut off, put on the pittman arm puller, but there is no clear path to drive the puller screw that forces the Pittman off the spline shaft.
Need Help.
Have you done this before?
BTW, It's a '94 Dakota 4x4 w 5.2L V8
Thanks for any help on this.

Message: Yes. I had to use a wrench instead of a socket. I also had to "tap" the sh!t out of it to break free. The whole effort included applying significant tension with the puller, getting a pry bar on either side of the pitman arm and smacking a pry bar with a 2lb sledge to get the arm to pop loose from the shaft. A little work (half hour of tightening/ smacking) but it came off.
Good luck!
