Subject: Dual Exhuast question? IP: Logged
Message: I have recvently purchased a kota slt 00' with a cheap dual exhaust kit on it. It doesn't seem like a true dual exhaust. There is a Y pipe that comes off of the what looks like stock muffler.
I no longer want the noise.
I was wonder if I can just cut the Y pipe, leaving a couple of inches of pipe for the tail of the muffler. Will this cut the noise to stock standards? Or does the truck have an aftermartket muffler that I need to replace with a stock one?

Message: If you cut off the tail pipes after the muffler, it WILL be louder, ESPECIALLY in the cab.
It most likely has a aftermarket muffler.
Just replace with a cheap performance one like the Holley branded Raptor, cheap at Pep Boys.
It should be fairly quiet.

Message: Advance Auto sells Thrush Turbo and Dynomax Super Turbo which shouldn't be too loud but will still give you better 'performance' than stock.
