I agree 100%.......I left out all those details because my emails are way too long. Comparing the MSRP on the window sticker to what their books showed I could order one for in 2002 was about $800.00 cheaper for ordering vs. buying off the lot. However, that also ment no rebates or dealer incintives. At the time D/Chrysler was offering some powerful rebates (around $3K)and they told me the rebates only applied to vehicles on the lot. Then there were some other dealer incintives going on like sales tax paid, free extended warranties, free oil changes, and dealer rebates which added over an additional $2K. This all ammounted to me paying just under $17K for a truck that would have cost me over $22K. So, I bought a nice red 2002 SLT V8 Dak off the show room floor.
partsmanager,
The vehicle was listed and sold as a new vehicle. It was on the new car lot. The title had not been transfered to the new dealer. All it had was the signatures on the back of the title. Starting in Illinois and working its way slowly South to Arkansas. The dealer swears it was a paper work error. We insisted on them explaining how they bought a new Ram from a Used car dealer. The dealer that had the truck prior to them sold only used cars. We plan to obtain the odometer statements from the previous 3 dealers. All 4 dealers signatures are on the back of the title with the name of the dealerships. It appears the only mistake made was the clerk forgot to get a new fraudulant title and handed my father the old original title.
That's not all....
There are bubbles in the paint where it has been repainted on the passenger side front fender. There are places in the paint (same area) that the paint has popped off. It is usually the result of not having enough flash time between the base coat and final coat. The solvents can't evaporated properly and "pimples" form under the surface. In a few days the pimples pop off and expose the base coat with little specs that look like rock chips.
My father obviously didn't check under the hood before he purchased it or he would have known(they saw him coming). It is dirtier than my wifes 3 year old car that has 39,000 miles on it. I pointed that one out to him with a side by side comparison.

Message: The BBB should not even be involved here. It's very simple. It IS a federal crime to roll back the odometer. Call the Attorney General in your state and report the dealer. No need even to hire a lawyer. They will be prosecuted and you will get your money back.
The employee who was fired now has grounds for a wrongful termination lawsuit, also.
