Message: I just bought a 92 Dakota with 5 speed manualtrans and 3.9 fuel injected engine. This is my first experience with a Dakota....Love the truck. Power is excellent.
Problem: occasionally it dies for no reason. Coast to side of road turn off ignition. Restart engine, drive on with no problem for a day or two.
Made me think it was a dirty fuel filter so I changed that.
Last night it set a code "35" which the book tells me is the "idle switch circuit" or the radiator fan control relay circuit. Since it's not over heating any I count that out and wonder where the "idle switch circuit" is leading me since that seems the most likely path.
Any one had any experience along this line and advice on what to check from here?
any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Brent

Message: Is this a 2.5L engine??
Code 35 is for the 2.5L.........according to the trouble code decoder @
http://www.dakota-truck.net/CGI-BIN/DakotaCodes.cgi
Sounds like the harness splice (3.9L). This splice turns green with corrosion & creates this type of problems. Located drivers side fender, between the battery & the windshield washer tank.
Just unwrap the covering & you will find it. Even if it looks "OK" clean it up. This splice feeds the computer.......
