OK here's the deal I have a 94 dakota with the 3.9 between full and 3/4 of tank of gas it runs great, between 3/4 and 1/2 about every 20 to 30 miles it will start acting up when i accelerate, it will misfire and backfire and loose power in general. turn it off for a little bit turn it back on and your good to go for another 20 to 30 miles. Get below 1/2 tank and it just keeps getting worse and more frequent. The fuel pump was replaced 5 months ago. Anybody got any suggestions

sounds like you have garbage in your tank. probably got a bad load of gas with rust and/or dirt in it. either way you're going to have to drop the tank and flush it out. were you at the station when they were having their tanks filled or soon after? almost forgot, incase you need a new filter for the inlet to the pump the part number is 4864307 its the mesh screen.
