Message: can you tell me what all "live data" you can monitor with it? is the data real time or does it update at a predefined interval (like every second)?
I'm looking at another vendor scanner that can look at the below data "live".. updates about every second ... according to tech support for the product.
Fuel System 1 Status
Fuel System 2 Status
Calculated Engine Load
Coolant Temperature
Short Term Fuel Trim Bank 1
Short Term Fuel Trim Bank 2
Short Term Fuel Trim Bank 3
Short Term Fuel Trim Bank 4
Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 1
Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 2
Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 3
Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 4
Engine RPM
Vehicle Speed Sensor (speed)
Timing Advance (cyl 1)
Intake Air Temperature
Mass Airflow (g/s)
Throttle Position
Location of O2 Sensors
Oxygen Sensor Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1
Oxygen Sensor Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 2
Oxygen Sensor Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 1
Short term Fuel Trim Bank 1 Sensor 1
Short term Fuel Trim Bank 1 Sensor 2
Short term Fuel Trim Bank 2 Sensor 1
It does have limitiation of not supporting CAN (they have another model that does support CAN but does not say if it does live data monitoring - i'm in the process of trying to find that out from their tech support) and only does OBDII.

Message: They do have another model which should be arriving arriving from manufacturing any day which supports live scanning (items listed above) as well as CAN.

Message: mine does all that, it's a auto x-ray 6000, i got it with all the goodies, and the software and cables to hook it to the computer so i can graph and look at data recordings on the computer later. i paid 599 from summit, plus, they got a 50 dollar rebate until the first of the year. best valuee i thought.

Message: what a neat little tool!
Mine arrived on saturday, I hooked it up to my wife's grand am and watched the O2 voltage transition smoothly between .1 and .9V
I hooked it up to my dakota and watched it bounce eratically between .1 and .9. I also have a nice little exhaust leak at the connection between the header and pipe. After I get this fixed, i expect to see a smoother transition.

Message: That sounds pretty cool. I wouldn't mind having one. But this x-mas was all to our spoiled kids, as usual!
Funny thing tho. I have a 2006 F350 company work truck with the 5.4 Triton.
The check engine light has come on a few times, but seemed to just be an emmisions evap system leak. The ppl who change the oil reset if for me and I have yet to go look for the leak.
Anyway, the first time the check engein light came on I tried various things with the key on and off, and holding the odometer while turning the key since I knew I could get the code with a Dodge with the key I tried everything on the Ford.
If you hold the odometer and turn the key on it goes into some sort of test mode. I can then start the truck and it gives me all of those readings in the large odomoeter display. You can toggle through each reading by depressing the odomoeter button. Seems to be dozens of readings from the sensors and computer. Even what the fuel pulse width seemed to be, everything.
That seemed to be pretty cool. No scanner tool required!
