Subject: Tail Gate - How much weight will it hold
IP: Logged

Message:
How much weight will our tailgates hold?? They seem pretty tough, but i don't want to overload it. I have snowmobile that will be transported pretty often in my bed. Obviously i will have to keep the tailgate down (which will distribute weight), but how about loading and unloading? Most of the weight will be directly on the tailgate (up to 500 lbs). Will it hold out for me or should i remove the tailgate when loading?

Hi there. I have trucked my frinds 2000 MX600 ski doo many times on my truck.. with the tailgate down. does not seem to bother what so ever. I would assume as long as you went pretty easy with it, you will not have a problem......

FWIW, and I know it isn't much, I've had about 400 pounds (me, my son, and daughter) sitting on the tailgate many times, with no ill affects.

Does our owner's manual state the limitation?
