Message: Well... I've finally posted an article detailing the "heat shield" I helped build for my 360 Air Intake (from http://www.360airintakez.com
You can find the article here on my website (not a "pure Dak site"): http://www.chimptopia.com/pimptopia/intake.html.
Hopefully folks will like it! (Please don't slam me too hard if you don't. LOL)

Message: Everything was looking good until you covered
and painted it. You should have kept the
plexiglass uncovered and painted it gloss. As
it is right now it looks like you made it out of
clay. Better luck next time.

Message: True... but I was using some "high heat" paint that is for Bar-B-Que grills and I guess it wasn't "glossy" (supposedly it can go up to 1,200 degrees).
If need be, I can still paint it glossy... since that coat on it now is pretty much like a "primer".
I'm unsure what you meant by the "uncovered" part.

Message: BTW, it wasn't "plexiglass", it was made out of fiberglass resin... which is opaque (kinda "greenish" when it dries)

Message: I JUST THINK YOU COULD have done a
cleaner looking job if you used plexiglass or a
heat resistant plastic. It could be glued at the
seams and may not even require painting. I
mean doesnt the shield stick out in your
engine bay like a sore thumb? Dont get me
wrong its better than nothing, but it could look
better.

Message: Actually it integrates quite nicely with the rest of the engine... you would have to see it in person to see it. I have shown a few more folks here and they have given it the "thumbs up" (Maybe they were just being nice and didn't want to hurt my feelings... LOL.)
BTW, this unit is actually all one piece... there are no "seams" to worry about which is a big benefit. Also, the fact that it actually has a "bottom" that keeps out dirt, debris, and water from getting to the filter is a plus as well.
As stated in the article, Travis who had the "original" concept went for a more "stylish" look which might appeal more to someone who uses their Dak engine for "show", however I was looking at "functionality" and didn't put quite as much effort into the "show" (although I do agree that a "glossier paint" might have looked somewhat better... since the "evening sun" made the picture I submited look ashy or "claylike". Maybe I need to do another pic in better light)
However I do understand your points... but I guess you didn't see the direction I was going with it... that's ok, I can accept your opinion.
