Subject: all mopar parts? IP: Logged
Message: if you were building a monster of a 360, would you use ALL mopar performance parts, or would you get more power by mixing and matching? i have a 360 block, and i'm unsure on the parts to start with.....if it were you, what all parts would YOU use? i'm wantin to get BIG #'s out of it N/A. btw, its a magnum, not pre-magnum...and should i consider getting it bored out? and whats the procedure to paint it? i want to paint it mopar red.

Message: How much money do you wanna spend on the motor. getting all mopar parts is hard, because mopar is not offering everything you need.
if want to get real power you should consider
- new cam
- stroking it
- turbo
- intake and exhaust mods
it all depends what you want to achive and how much money should be involved

Message: what he^ said. you should decide what you're going to use the motor for and how much to spend.
8k rpm dragging, max torque for towing.
there are a few diff ways to go. decide that then look for mopar or aftermarket parts to best suit your needs.

Message: I'd start by looking at the weight and gearing of the vehicle I was building the motor for, and select parts appropriately. If you just build for biggest numbers, expect peaky power that would belong in a lightweight rail. For good streetable power, I think Edelbrocks air gap manifold often beats mopar's offerings. There are other places you could be better of with aftermarket too; but you really need to focus on your application.

Message: A monster engine for any purpose requires some specialized parts. I wouldn't limit myself to factory parts.
Cam, heads, and intake at the least. You maybe could get away with modding the stock heads and intake, depending on your goals. But you'd certainly want an aftermarket cam.
The bottom end would depend on use. If it's for high rpm racing, you'll want aftermarket forged parts. For towing and off roading, a mostly stock bottom end work.
