Subject: dreaded p0455 code IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys having a small problem here with a 2001 QC 3.9 Dakota 80043 Miles, various times I have picked up the p0455 evap leak. Two weeks ago, it came on for no reason. Sense then I have changed the gas cap the PCV valve, the air filter checked some of the air hoses not all, but most. Last thing I can think of is to change the charcoal filter under the frame. Anyone have any other ideas that it could be? I run Amsoil with changes at every 7500 miles, I’m about 5k into the oil with a filter change at 4k (just throwing this in there) I'm perplexed, anyone know of any other areas that fail and give the p0455 error on the truck?

Message: check your hoses for cracks... see them in the shop all the time and theres a few small hoses that dry up and crack back by leak detection pump

Message: I struggled with the same code on my 2001 Quad Cab for several months. I replaced the gas cap, and that worked for a week.
I was changing spark plugs on my truck as part of a tune-up, and noticed that the evap lines in the engine compartment were cracked. I replaced the evap lines (they look like vacuum hoses) with regular fuel line of the same size, and the P0442 code went away and has not come back (2 months)
Look in the engine compartment near the battery for a green evaporative systems access port.
Follow that hose both directions, and I bet that you will find cracked hose ends that are causing the leak. Replace the hose with fuel line hoses, and use hose clamps. Total cost ~ $13.00
No More Check Engine Light !!!

Message: Had the same code on my 03 and the dealer replaced the leak detection pump after the 3rd trip in for the same problem, no more P0455 code. I'd replace the gas cap and inspect the rubber evap lines before replacing the leak detection pump as I bet it costs a bunch, don't know how much as mine was covered under warranty.

Message: I had a P0456 code caused by a cracked hose leading to the charcol canister. The crack was on the upper side at the nipple; I found it by feel since it was not on the visible side. Look and feel around the hoses under the cab inside the left frame rail.

Message: Never came back to setup the fix, as it turned out it was a cracked hose on the charcol canister as Stick had, 3 dollar fix and Im goot to go, I think I am going to change all the hoses leading into the canister just to be safe anotherone seemed to be showing wear also. anyways....check that canister if you cannot get the P0455 light to clear.
thanks all
