i have a 99 5.2 44RE 4x4 that just died. would it be easier to find a used NV 3500 manual to install? would need to buy a clutch too? is this conversion worth it. i would really like a manual now that i think about it more :)

I think it'd be cheaper to just get the old one rebuilt rather than convert it to a manual...

After spending all the money converting to a manual I think you would have a larger headache figuring out how much you owe rather than what gear to shift into .

Hey if you want to spend the money on it and you absolutely need the manual and plan on keeping the truck for a while then go for it. If you're gonna get rid of it soon it's not worth the money.

you're looking at flywheel, tranny, clutch, pressure plate, TO bearing, pedal assy, hydraulic system, and other incidentals. if you find a donor truck you may come out cheaper if you do it yourself. if someone else is providing/charging labor, rebuild the auto.
