Subject: would it be cheaper for a manual? IP: Logged
Message: i have a 99 5.2 44RE 4x4 that just died. would it be easier to find a used NV 3500 manual to install? would need to buy a clutch too? is this conversion worth it. i would really like a manual now that i think about it more :)

Message: I think it'd be cheaper to just get the old one rebuilt rather than convert it to a manual...

Message: After spending all the money converting to a manual I think you would have a larger headache figuring out how much you owe rather than what gear to shift into .

Message: Hey if you want to spend the money on it and you absolutely need the manual and plan on keeping the truck for a while then go for it. If you're gonna get rid of it soon it's not worth the money.

Message: you're looking at flywheel, tranny, clutch, pressure plate, TO bearing, pedal assy, hydraulic system, and other incidentals. if you find a donor truck you may come out cheaper if you do it yourself. if someone else is providing/charging labor, rebuild the auto.
