Is it ok to have my muffler in the stock position with a short exhaust pipe like a foot angled down under the bed or do i need to have the full exhaust pipe going past the axle and behind the rear tire.
Thanks a lot for all responses.

Two concerns for any people or pets that may ride in the bed of your truck if you do it this way...
1) sound level
2) breathing in the exhaust fumes.

Other concern is emission testing
If required in your area ??
They don't like to have to get under truck to get at exhaust , and depending on which one
you go to they may not like any 'mods' , and
refuse to even try to test it...

yeah it will be fine minus the exhaust fumes but i cut mine off about a foot off the muffler it definetly makes a difference in sound tones. i love it but my flow isnt not loud enough i'm gonna go from the super 40 to some spin tech exhaust

Another concern would be proximity to your spare tire. I dry rotted my underbed spare quite badly one time by exposing it to exhaust when the tail pipe broke.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way
