I have a 2003 CC V6 auto. The noise which I hear is when the truck shifts into high gear. It sounds like a piece of plastic being put into a slow rotating fan or a deck of cards being shuffled. It lasts for approximately 2 seconds. This is the best way to describe the noise. It sounds like it is coming from the transmission. I experimented today and drove with the OD off and did here the noise at all. As soon as the OD was back on I heard it consistantly when shifting into the high gear. The noise is not extremely loud but, I am able to hear it over the radio. This is the best way to describe it. Please help.

I have just one guess and it really is a guess. Selinoids can chater with low voltage. Can't recall one ever doing this for a differant reason but anything is possible I guess. I have only experianced this with starter selinoids with low batteries or bad connections. I can think of nothing else that could make this noise. Check for lose wires or plug-ins related to selinoids on your trany.

So many problems .... So little time

while driving to work today it seems the noise in coming from the bottem of the dashboard by the hump in the floorboard. It is definitely inside the truck. With OD off no noise, with OD on when it shifts into high gear I get that fluttering plastic sound. Who knows?? Dealer woould probably laugh. One more thing when I push the OD back in to activate it noise starts.

Does it happen the instant you turn the O/D on, or a few seconds later? From the location, it does not sound like it's the solenoids, sounds like the torque converter is going into lockup and is chattering. You may have a damaged torque converter. Do you tow or plow with the truck? Has it ever run low on tranny fluid or overheated badly? Have you checked the fluid level lately?

The instant that I press the OD button to engage it I hear the chatter. Tranny fluid level is fine. I did have a problem with my water pump which caused the engine to overheat a couple of times.
