Subject: Gas Pedal is hard
IP: Logged

Message:
Since i bought my truck a few months back, the gas pedal is rather hard to push. Feels like a 3 cylinder geo or something. I have checked the cable to the TB and it seems to be ok. Could it have something to do with the spring attached to the TB and if so how do i fix this problem. Thanks Folks BTW 99 3.9 RWD club cab Auto

Disconnect the throttle cable at the TB.
Try to move the TB by hand.
Try to move the throttle cable by hand from the gas pedal.
See which one feels bound up.

Did that cable seems to be free and clear seems to be more or less the spring, is there a way to fix. I have cleaned the throttle body out, could the spring be to tight in some way?

Can you see if the spring is binding?
Is it that the throttle plate and shaft move freely and the spring seems too tightly wound?

That is pretty much exactly what it is like, it just seems like that spring is so tight that it makes it hard to accelerate. Its not too hard of a pedal but is definately harder than it should be, throttle plate and moves A ok.
