Subject: disabling features w/power programs IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 q/cab with factory alarm and power locks. I have the superchips tuner in. As I live in a condo complex and am costantly forgetting something in it, I would like to arm the alarm w/o the horn honking. I do not want to put it in valet mode, as this is a BAD neighborhood. I have looked at the manual, and followed its instructions to the tee. The disabling worked as I heard the chime saying it did, but now when I lock the truck up, it honks twice on arm and disarm. Normal operation is 1 honk at arm and 2 honks at disarm. I have even tried to disable the horn with and w/o the power program. No luck whatsoever. I really would prefer to not go to the stealership even though I am under warranty. If , and I really do mean if, I have to go to the dealership I know the program has to be stock. I am just wondering if anyone had this problem even if you do not have superchips? It is a slt qc auto 4.7 if that would make any difference. Even if the program is out, can the dealer tell the program has been in?

Message: Dealer won't fix it free anyway. It's an option not a defect. Not that it takes a long time though. If you have a really good dealer close they might do it.
So many problems .... So little time

Message: thanx forseti, i had read the manual and went thru the procedure many, many times before posting. Fastening the seat belt is just so you do not get confused about when he actual chime comes on. The procedure worked, but did not disable the horn. It actually added a 2nd chirp to the armed alarm. p 16 in the 2002 owners manual. What really sucks is that when I finally got all 4 doors to unlock with only one press of the unlock button, the alarm still went off, and would not stop going off. Man, I had everyone pissed the fuc kk off at me. My parking spot has only a sidewalk between the front of my truck and someones front door! Man, they were shooting me the dirtiest looks! I do not blame them at all. That fuc king horn is loud as f@#k! After a call to the dealer, they connected me to the alarm company who put me in touch with the on call tech who talked me thru the whole thing. He told me to go back in the truck, put the key to on, no start, and just press the button. The alarm stopped. Then , after taking the key out, put it in, turn to on w/o starting, press the button, behind alarm light, 3x, and voila! Alarm is armed and no damn honking when I get in and out of the truck! What the hell! That was nothing like what the book said. btw, when the tech's procedure worked, the horn gave 2 chirps. ob103, they should have fixed it as I bought the xtended warranty. should have. do not know if they would have. Forseti, did that procedure work for you, or were you just quoting text from the manual? Just curious. Apparently the all doors unlock thing is the reason everything went so wrong, from what the tech told me. I guess I just have to press the disarm button 2x.
