Subject: steering pops IP: Logged
Message: My steering wheel is moving up and down lots of slack. I can move it around pretty good. occasionally it happens when i go up a driveway curb or make a right hand turn. any ideas? i was thinking pitman arm or front sways something like that

Message: is it the steering wheel moving up and down in the cab. if so i would check bearings in the column.

Message: You know, I can't seee the steering column in my Dak, but there may be a mid connection like I have seen in some vehicles, like with a universal type joint. I would check it to see if anything is coming loose.

Message: Intermediatary shaft ( i beleive )...have someone turn the wheel, if you see the joint underneath the rubber boot "pop" then you need a new shaft. I've been driving mine like that for years, it's more of an annoyance...it won't fail catastrophically.
