Saw a sheriff's car today at an accident scene. It was a new Dodge Charger. Lot cooler thn the Crown Vic. Now I wonder if it had the hemi in it?

I've seen cops in newer model Camaros, PT cruisers (Sheriff), and newer Impalas. Our city cops (Piqua, OH) have a Dodge Durango, Ford Expedition, Chevy Blazer, plus the typical police cars...sucked too...I was out four-wheeling on the roads after a snowstorm (figured they'd never have a chance at catching me with the roads as bad as they were) and it was just my luck that I passed one of the cops in a 4x4 SUV. Ha.

Not this one as it didn't have the hood scoop on it that the SRT-8 chargers have. Wonder why the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum SRT-8s don't have the scoops?

It wouldn't in my area - around here, sheriffs work in the prison system, and are not generally involved in any kind of persuit.

The police cars in Lk. Jackson, TX., (S. of Houston), are hemi chargers. I know they have one for sure, my friends husband brought it by the E.R. where I work.

same as Denver CO, the highway patrol has chragers....scared the $hit out of me when i was driving behind one and all a sudden lights came on from everwhere. maybe they want to be like europe and drive cool cop cars instead of the granny cruisers

my town has 2 or 3 new chargers, i have always wondered what they have for an engine
1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars

Our town has about 4 chargers. I talked to the sherif here and he said the newbies drive the 3.5 chargers, and the 2 almost retired officers drive the hemis. So they put either engine in them.
Old setup: 1/4 mile on old setup: 13.965 @ 100.10 MPH, Crappy 2.236 60' on street tires
Mods: Paxton NOVI 2000 supercharger @ 10 #'s, M1 4Bbl, F&B 58mm TB, Gibson headers, JBA Y-pipe, and a Locker

I read about this in a magazine about a year and a half ago. I heard it was going to be a basic Charger, with 6.1L Hemi thrown in. Personalized for the po-po.

ive only seen the chargers on the interstate around here. but in town they just bought about 4-5 new impalas. those things got 300 horse stock. id imagine those are pretty quick too.

Philly PD is using Hemi chargers for highway traffic enforcement now too. It's funny, when all they had was Crown Vics, impala's and Explorers traffic enforcement on the major highways I95 and 76 was never worth their time. Now all of a sudden they take delivery of a whole fleet of 06 Chargers and you see those things sitting by the sides of the road all the time.

Several counties/cities have the magnum's and chargers. I just some in my home town in Indiana and have been seeing them around the Atlanta area for months.
Here's some of my favorites I've seen:
tow truck - with blue/red light bar painted yellow like DOT but also has state police logo on the side.
marked corvette complete with light bar.
camero complete with 2 stage nitrous (confiscated from drug dealer)
jeep cherokees, dodge dakotas, ford F150s, chevy silvarados. Some marked and some unmarked.
my personal favorite an original hummer (also confiscated from a drug dealer) complete with light bar and logo.

On the Hemi Chargers... should be good in pursuits but I am highly interested to see how that lowered sport susponsion holds up when they start jumping lots of curbs.
