Subject: fuel indicator IP: Logged
Message: 2001 Dakota 4X4 4.7 QC. My fuel indictor icon has come on a couple of times and the fuel gauge shows no fuel, yet the tank is full. I guess a sensor is screwing up somewhere. Anyone know where this sensor would be or is it something else?

It's in the fuel tank.

Message: every other time I get a full tank of gas, my truck does that for the
first 8th of a tank. Bugs the crap out of me. However, sometimes
it does it, sometimes it doesn't. And for me it's only after I fill up.

Message: How often does it happen ? Could be the sending unit, as someone already said. Mine's done this twice in 6 years; and not in the past half year - so in my case, I just try not to let in concern me...

Message: Its happened twice this week. I shut the truck off and re-start and everything works fine. If it is the sending unit in the tank, too bad. I can deal with fuel pump symbol being lit up.

Message: Mine has done that a few times and I believe its caused by the ignition switch. If I wiggle the key and the cylinder around a bit, it will make a better connection and the gauge will start working.
