 Subject: 9 1/4 diff question

well i now have 70k miles on my truck and think its time to change the diff fluid. how much fluid does a 9 1/4 take? i have 3 bottles of 80W-90 vavoline semi synthedic and one bottle of friction modifier. is this enough? i cant find my service manual for the life of me. thanks

When I changed mine I think it took two quarts. Some of the upscale fluids are suitable for limited slip use from the bottle. I really don't know if you still need the additive or not when using these because mine is an open design. I always call the product manufacturer tech line when I'm not sure.
