l have a 1994 slt v8 4x4 and need to know what the gear ratio is or where i can find out what it is thanks for the help

The diff cover usually has a metal tag on it, held on with one of the retainer bolts. That should tell you what you have.

Also, look under the hood and inside the glove box door. Dodge often places the build sheet there. If you have one of the optional ratios, or LSD, it should be listed there. Stock ratio and open diff are usually not listed on those stickers.

Jack up the rear end, and put it on jack stands. Release the parking brake and put it in neutral. Use some blue masking tape (or whatever) to marka spot on the inside of the tire and on the drive shaft. Turn the drive shaft by hand. Count how many times the drive shaft turns for every time the tire turns one full revolution - that's your ratio.
