Message: I've found that the NAPA Britelight is a good bulb to go with! Its the same as a GE HO i think. I has those Ultawhites in there at one time and couldnt see jack sh*t when it rained. Heard the PIAA's are good though. I went with a brighter fog light too, #899

Message: PIAAs are bright, but I don't think they are worth what you pay for; mine cost 140 bucks CDN.
They are only 45/65 W.
I could've bought the GE High Outputs for 10 bucks each, for 20 bucks CDN, for roughly the same brightness.
I saw some pretty decent headlight bulbs at jcwhitney.com, and prices aren't that bad either. They have 9004 bulbs that are 100/80 W for 13.99 US each.

Message: I put in the PIAA Platinums, I think they were $70 for the pair. Also dumped the weak 25w fogs and replace them with 55w fogs. The older I get, the more light I need....before long I will need lasers...

Message: On my old Jeep Grand Cherokee I had a relay setup for the headlights to eliminate the voltage drop from the long harness. Jeeps were supposed to lose 3 volts over the distance. I also put in Hella high intensity plus 100/80W bulbs that cost about $15.45 each locally. I never really needed the brights on the Jeep, and oncoming drivers never flashed their brights back, they looked pretty much stock just really white. I still have the setup and it looks like it would work on the Dakota but the owners manual calls for different bulbs (9007 I think?) The socket is the same and I think the only difference is in how the filiment is aligned in the bulb. I never had problems with the heat in the rather large Jeep lense, do you think it will be OK in the Dakota? Also are the 55 watt bulbs for the fogs a direct replacement or are the wires a little different? On my old neon the wires were a little different. between 35 and 55 watt bulbs.
