Subject: QUESTION. Please Help
IP: Logged

Message:
I am currently faced with the option to have a 97 dakota sport, with a 3.9l. 2x4 reg. cab. it has about 90,000miles on it I have always had GM cars and trucks, I am not downing a Dodge but I have worked for GM and its made sense to buy what pays your bills. The questions I have are for one does anyone have anything bad to say about the truck that would help me make up my mind? And also it was the 15'' wheels on it, what are the biggest size tires it will take?, if anyone knows?
Thank you for any help.

I have a 99 4X2 club cab with the 3.9. The only thing i can say is that it could get better gas mileage. I get about 16 combined city and highway. Lots of folks on hear get em up and going though with a few mods. The only thing you may have trouble with is the single cab is kind of a tight fit.
my two cents

i have a 2000 Quad Cab 2wd with the 3.9. i get around 18 to 19 if i take it easy on it(which doesnt happen often). i have quite a few mods done to it. i still have the factory wheels, but i have 255/60R15s on it. thats aproximately 29" tall. if i wanted to i could go up one more size without it scrubbing or anything.

I used to won a 98 club cab with a V6 and 5 speed. Used for some light towing (a car on a dolly), and a lot of highway traveling. Great little truck, I really liked it.

I have a 99 4x4 with 31/10.50-15 I know the 4x4 sits a little higher than the 2 drive model but they don't hit or scrub at all. As for the trucks themselves I think dodge make a fine truck. I have 118000 miles on mine and had no major trouble the fuel milage is about the same as the other guys but I have a friend with a new chevy mid size p/u with an inline 5 and gets the same milage as my 5.2 so I'd say dodge gets better fuel milage.
