Message: I got remote in both my rigs. There is no way I would try to install one. Probably there are those that do but You best be very sharp at this kind of stuff. Mine includes the remote start, doorlocks and alarm system that includes doors and hood. These system run me about 350 including labor charges. I you get one DO NOT put the stickers on your windows stating you have a burgalur system. The decal type/design tells the theif what system you have There for telling him exactly what not to do to set it off.

Message: I was reading somewhere a while back about the remote starters (it may have even been on here) that to be careful with them...the whole saying "You get what you pay for," is really important with them. A lot of the cheaper ones have a tendency to wear out very quickly and have been known to melt wires, catch fire, etc.
So if you do it...make sure you do your research and find one with good ratings. Don't buy the first cheap on you see at Wally World or anything. Just a heads up for you.

Message: i think i remember some folks on here also had problems with installing it with the existing factory "Magic" passive security system (ignition cutoff).

Message: As I said . Some can do it and lots can't. I'm sure I could have installed mine but I wasn't about to. It had a million wires to it. wasn't about to take the chance of burning out anything in my truck or burning out the new unit far as that goes. I bought quality paying plenty for them. I put mine in over 3 years ago and they still work great.
