The factory cassette radio in my 96 has died. The clock will not even come on. I replaced the fuse and that did not help. Does anyone have any ideas?

There is a diode(?) inside that has crapped out. The problem was common enough that when I took mine to an electronics repair shop in Corpus Christi, TX (when I still lived there) and with a verbal explination, they knew exactly what was wrong. $40 later I had my factory radio working again. Sorry I don't remember the name of the shop. It was about 6 years ago.

Thanks for the help, Someone mentioned that it might be another fuse that also runs the radio, I will check that and if it dosn't work take it in for the diode repair.

I have been in dealer parts departments that have stacks of new, realy cheap, radios taken from new vehicles belonging to people who upgraded.
Might ask around.

Yeah looks like Im going to have to get a new one, I havn't pulled it out yet but I have that feeling. I'm probably going to try one of those salvage yards where you pull the parts you need from a "graveyard" of junked cars. I need a few light covers as well, which raises the question...What other dodge models have the same factory AM/FM cassette player that the 1996 dakota has? Id like this info, just in case they dont have one from a Dakota. Thanks for the help.

Full size Ram, Avenger, Stratus, Sprirt, etc. I believe `94-`97.
