Subject: no dash lights! IP: Logged
Message: so i was gettin ready to leave school after an away soccer game. it was 9:00pm and i turn my truck on, and lights on.... 20 seconds later i realize my dash lights dont work! the parking lights, brights, turn signals, and cabin light all work. and yes, i did twist it to see if i had them dimmed all the way down.
its a 1995 3.9 auto, anyone been through this or know how to fix it?

Message: Highly unlikely ALL the bulbs burned out at one time. Most likely a bad wire/ground or fuse. Check the easy stuff before you start digging deep. Might just save you a lot of unneeded work
So many problems .... So little time

Message: Yeah, the same thing happened to me recently, although I have a 2001. I checked the fuse I thought was correct, and it was fine. Strangely, it was another fuse, the one for my parking lights. Check ALL your fuses, even if it doesn't make sense to look at a particular one.

Message: well, i checked the fuses, turns out it was blown, so i replaced it. it called for a 4 amp, but autozone only had 5 amps so i used one of those. it fixed it, for a little while, then it blew again, replaced the fuse again, and as soon as i turned my lights on it blew... now what do i do?

Message: Tim,
You have to be the dumbest person on this earth. Really, all the bulbs went at the same time. I really hope that you have been neutered, so there are not little dumb Tims running around.

Message: As for you question, you have a bad ground in the dash. The only thing to really do, is to start checking wires.
As for the retard Tim. I guess you could be right. I does sound like all of you light bulbs are burnt out.

Message: Actually, the ground is probably fine - sounds more like a hot lead or bad gauge shorting to ground. We call that a short circuit; not a bad ground. A bad ground could kill the lights too, but wouldn't blow the fuse. Look or smell for something charred to find it. That advice to start checking wires is good.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: I missed the blown fuse in his second post, I had a "Tim" moment of stupidness.
Check your wiring behind the cluster and look for what was posted above. Loose connections can blow fuses, so check those also.
Anything electrical is just chasing wires, there is no easy fix.

Message: you truck could wind up going up in smoke. never ever put a fuse in a circuit that is rated for more current than the circuit was originally designed for. your just begging for an electrical fire.
