The door handle on my 98 R/C Dakota broke. It is the interior one. The mechanism on the other side of the handle behind the wall broke off so there isnt anything pulling on the latch. I cannot get out without doing the roll down the window and reach around to open, then close window deal. Or, keep panel off, but it prevents me from controlling either window, so it is a heat/ice trap. (In michigan it has hit 75degrees/35degrees in the recent days). Please help. I cannot find one on the internet, and the dealer isnt able to help. Please help me if you can. THANKS!

Is the part of the handle where the latch rod attached broken, or is it the rod itself that's broke?

Latch area. the rod is fine. That is what I pull to open the door. It's the swivel piece, and the back half of the latch broke off. just behind the spring.

You might want to try the local salvage yard. As far as I know the door handle hardware should be the same from year to year as long as the trucks are of the same generation.

Thanks. I have a very successful rig working. Junk yards are my next choice. The local parts stores only sell the whole door panel
