Subject: Electrical Woes!!!! IP: Logged
Message:
ok.....96 3.9.....driving along one day all the sudden it feels like somebody rear ends the truck and shes dead, cranks like a mofo but wont kick over. get it home and get to looking at it and I find the Auto shutdown fuse (not the rlay) was blown. everytime i put a new one in turn the key to on its fine, as soon as i start to crank it it glows and blows. figure its a fuel pump problem because even when the fuse was good the pump wouldnt run. new pump in and now the pump runs even if the fuse is blown but it wont kick over. pour gas into the T.B. and it kicks over till its all burned up and shuts off then blows the fuse again. WTF!?!?!?!?!?! help plz

Message: I thought either that or maybe some wiring in the ignition. wasnt sure if nebody else might have had a problem with this to narrow down the search. Because there are A LOT of wires to check. Oh and its not the wires under the power box under the hood....They have been checked. And also, before I put new pump in the fuse would blow everytime you hit the key but since the new pump was put in it doesnt blow now until its been running for a few using the gas in the T.B. trick.

Message: Your fuel pump still runs with the ASD Fuse (30A) burned? Thats odd, because the ASD and Fuel Pump relays both get their power from that fuse.
The fuse you speak of provides power to: the PCM, the ASD relay, and the fuel pump relay (the two relays only put out power with a key ON, PCM providing ground condition). The ASD relay provides power to: the oxygen sensors, ignition coil, the injectors, the PCM, and the alternator. The fuel pump relay provides power to, of course, the fuel pump.
I would check for shorts-to-ground, bad wiring, etc. on all the injectors. Than do so for the ignition coil.
