The 35th anniversay is this saturday, check out http://www.nhfday.org/ for more details

for you North Georgia folks, come see me at unicoi state park in helen ga. I and several of my Trout Unlimited chapter members will be helping out with the fishing, teaching kiddies about fishing and helping them in anyway they need.

come on folks! show off those trucks, go enjoy nature and do some fishing and/or hunting this weekend.

There's a list of events on the website, check out something in your state. Good event to take the kids to and get them started in enjoying nature.

I live about 35 minutes away from Helen, GA... but I'm not much of a hunter or fisher. Helen is really fun though when they have Oktoberfest! :D

It was a great time! Seeing the smiles on those kids faces. Many kids had never fished before. They stocked somewhere in the neighborhood of 4000 trout in the stream for this event. Many took advantage of the rod loaner program and many took home their limit of 8 fish.

There was fishing, fly casting, fly tying, animal demonstrations (dogs, falcons), hay ride, archery, skeet shooting and canoeing.

After it ended, a few of us stopped and had dinner and some tasty german brews.

And I got to meet many of the DNR guys and gals from the fisheries and law enforcement divisions.
