Subject: Differential Rebuild?

Message:
So here we go:

Recently I had noticed that my right rear wheel was making a grinding noise. After pulling the wheel and drum off, I found grease all over the inside drum/brakes. I figured my seal had blown and the axle bearing had gone (hence the grinding). So I diss-asembled the rear end, replaced the bearing/seal, and when re-assembling the diff, realized two of my spider gears had worn considerably (there were gouges taken out of one of them). After cleaning the diff thouroughly, I put the case back together, hoping it would be OK for the near future. It wasn't. Am I correct in assuming that the grinding is the spider gears and not the inner bearing? The right rear grinds at all speeds.

So anyways, is it in my best interest to replace the spider gears, or am I better off getting a cheap LSD? (it's on open diff now.) Parts cost is an issue. I'll install the parts myself but defeintly can't afford to spend $300 on a new diff..

3.55 8.25 open diff. 5.3l V-8 Auto.

Thanks in advance.!
Justin
