Subject: 92-96 4x4 good of road & reliable? IP: Logged
Message: have a friend that is selling his ford ranger. he is looking for a Toyota pickup but i think an older dakota would be good for what he wants to do and is in his price range.
what i want to know is
-are these trucks reliable, and whats common to fail or signs to look for of a part that is failing?
-Are these trucks capable off road trucks? this truck will see lots of off road trails and we need a truck that is capable and dependable?
-would this be a good pick over a toyota?
-does the 318c.i suck a lot of gas over the 6cyl?
-how good is the after market?
thanks!
this could help him decide

Message: Well I just picked up a 99 sport 4X4 with the V6 and limited lip rear-end. I used to be a Toyota guy through and through, but after I started looking at Yotas in my price range the market was slim for what I wanted and getting options on Toyotas is like pulling teeth. My friend has a 97 toy and I like my Dak better. Its got more power, is bigger, and feels more solid than the Toy, but it is quite a bit bigger. I havent been able to hit the dirt yet, so I cant really speak to that, but its a solid on-road truck so far.
Mines got almost every option available except for cruise and its really comfortable. Factory seats are awesome and it looks like parts are cheaper too.
