Subject: intake vs. water/mud IP: Logged
Message: I am considering getting an IP Stage II intake. One thing that I was wondering is what happens when I take my truck through some substantial water or mud? Would I be better off just going with a drop in? I am not planning on doing a lot of modifications. I’m just debating between a $45 drop-in vs. and $125 intake.
Thanks,
Jason

Message: Sorry, my real question is, will I have a problem with water being sucked into the intake?
thanks again,

Message: it doesn't really matter what intkae you have you can still suck water with the stock intake. Go outside and look at your stock intake, it has a big snorkel coming off the front of it so if you were to get water up that high then, yes you could suck water, it happened to a friend of mine about 2 weeks ago and he still has his stock intake. So either way they both can suck water, only thing i could recommend for the aftermarket intake would be a piece called an air bypass valve made by AEM which doesn't allow water up the pipe but you'd probably have to cut the pipe and then adapt it in that way it seems like a good idea and it does work so check advanced engine managements site i'd link ya to it but i can't remember it right now so just do a search for it.
hope that helps some
