Subject: ABS TROUBLE I NEED HELP

Hey everybody, something strange is going on with my 99 4X4 5.2-- The other day while driving the ABS and Brake light came on for no reason. I checked all brake parts and all is fine. Also when I'm driving and step on the brakes to slow down or come to a stop the speedometer falls to zero. Then it starts to read speed again once I'm off the brakes and rolling again. I guess there must be some fuse or sensor that are on the same line but I don't know where to start to look. Has this happened to anyone else. Please help I suck at wiring stuff.

Yup...buy a new speed sensor and you'll be all set. Be careful when you change it that you don't snap it off. I've heard of people occasionally doing that...and that'd be a reaaaaal bitch and a half to get out.

Make sure you get the speed sensor on the rear differential and not the other one that goes on the tailshaft of the tranny. I had the one on the tailshaft of the tranny go out (causes shifting problems and not the problems you're having...plus I got a check engine light) and it cost around $30 for the sensor at Autozone, so I'd imagine the other sensor is similar in price.

Thanks guys, I'll have a chance to check it out today. I hope that's what it is, as I said I suck at wiring stuff and I'M not looking forward to running down every wire in the truck to find the trouble. Thanks again I'll check back to let you know if it worked.
