Message: I'm assuming you had to purge the system when you put in the evaporator. If moisture has gotten into the system it can combine with the refrigerant and make it corrosive, not to mention freezing and cutting off the flow of refrigerant through the lines so you get no cold air coming out of your vents.

Message: I assume your taking it somewhere to recharge it? Just make sure its put on a good vacuum pump for at least an hour and it pulls down to a decent vacuum. (29 hg) and holds there. That'll tell you if its tight and not leaking. The vacuum will remove all air/non-condensibles, ect. from the system.

Message: As the others said, make sure you vacuum in out to get to the air and moisture out that entered the system when you replaced the core.
I use a shop for things like this that i dont have the tools to do. I filled mine up myself after they evac'd it for me.
I hope you put in new o rings!

Message: Anytime I open a A/C system up do anything, I
always put about 300 lbs pressure of nitrogen
and close everything in and watch my gauges for
any leak down. Replace the dryer also.
Checking for leaks BEFORE you vacuum your system
down is much better. Saves a lot of time also.

Message: whats the time savings???? you still have to wait to see if the pressure drops, then evac it and put it on a pump anyhow. If there were no leaks prior to the evap change, I'd just vac it out and go from there. To each there own.
