Subject: heater core gone second time IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 Dakota with 4.7 v-8, stick shift. I keep it in excellent shape and maintenance. Heater core went in June 2003 with 26700 miles, it went again Aug 2006 with 65000 miles. Anyone else had this experience. Will Dodge provide any help in paying $760 bill???

Message: Maybe you have corrosive water at the tap? I found I need to run the heater once in a while even when it's warm to keep fresh fluid in the core. Alumaseal fixed my problem.

Message: rrbob,
1. Distilled water has no minerals to cause problems.
2. Modern heaters, like ours, always circulate the water. They use air adjustment for temperature control.
3. Sealers only in emergencies.
