Subject: 2.5" Magnaflow Duals are on! IP: Logged
Message: I got them put on yesterday, and they sound great! Inside it's a deep rumble, not loud enough to get annoying for a daily driver, but outside, it's a different story!
Here's a quick pic, sound clip, and a video. If you're going to see just one, make sure it's the video. It lets you hear what it really sounds like!

Message: ABout time you slacker!
It kinda sounds like a 5.0 Mustang :p
But we know Mustangs usually sound GOOD.
Those are 3" exits?
Maybe my chrome extensions are 3 1/2" then. Because they are HUGE LOL!
So did you run 2 1/2" all the way? Like dual cats and all?
Or split after the cat?
Also did you retain your bottom end off of idle?

Message: I know, it takes me a LONG time to do ANYTHING, but it's finally done.
I took it to a custom truck shop, and had everything removed from the cat-back. I had a 14" Magnaflow put in after a short length of straight pipe, then had 2.5" pipes run out of the muffler to 45 degrees out the sides. They exit through 3" tips (all they had in stock, but they are stainless and won't rust). I'm VERY happy with the way it turned out!
I was a bit surprised at how quiet it was inside the cab, but after listing to the vid myself, it's A LOT louder outside!

Message: Oh, I forgot, the exhaust from the cat-forward is stock, so that will probably be replaced in a year or two, probably with 2.5" from the manifolds into a y-pipe, then probably through a 3" high-flow cat, and maybe a 3" in dual 2.5" out muffler (Probably not since I just bought a new muffler that comes with a lifetime warranty from magnaflow). Anyways, I haven't gotten a chance to give it WOT yet, so maybe I'll get a video of that when I test the performance. so far I might have noticed an increase in torque because it doesn't take much pedal to get moving from a light.

Message: How can you not do a WOT?
I just drove my truck to a friends house and back with the WIFE in the truck and got it near WOT a few times so it would bark when it shifted.
She doesn't think it's too funny, but I do it anyway. Especially since I drive a 3/4 ton work vehicle all week long and then get into my Dak :)

Message: Too many cops out on the road today. :)
I'll probably 'test the performance' tomorrow.
I wish mine would bark when it shifts, but I don't want to mess with a shift kit right now.

Message: So, you basically changed your sound, and have a single y pipe exhaust.
That is NOT duals.
Probably dynos the same also.

Message: modain: No tiresmoke because I didn't want to hear a big "SKREEECH" in the video. :) But at the end when I'm hitting the brakes to back up, I gave a bit too much gas and did get a nice loud chirp before I let off the gas. I did leave too nice black strips though in the process! I've done a couple burnouts before but I'm trying to get some time out of my tires since I got them new last year for free. :)
As for whether or not they are duals, YES THEY ARE DUALS. Camaros have a crossflow muffler (one in, two out) and people consider that dual exhaust. I have two tailpipes there, hence DUAL. Are they TRUE DUALS? No. I never claimed to have TRUE DUALS, two seperate pipes from each manifold through two cats, etc. I got this system because my old one was rusting, and I wanted the LOOK of Duals, without the cost of TRUE Duals.

I bet that one chamber Flow sounds bada$$! I would have gone with something a bit louder but I wanted something that wouldn't get annoying to drive every day.

Message: Well, here's an update!
After having the magnaflow on there for a few weeks, it's gotten louder!
I'm even more happy with it now!
