Subject: champion truck plugs IP: Logged
Message: i had bosch plat 4's in my 93 318. bad idea. about 2-3 weeks after i put them in, i noticed a knock in the motor, just like a bad lifter. the truck seemed to run rich, HORRIBLE gas mileage, and no balls at all. i swear all my friends thought it was a v6.
so i didnt know it was these god damn plugs. i thought i actually had engine problems. i read up on a few things on these "wonderful" plat 4's and found out that other people have had these problems, or at least some of them.
As soon as i put the truck plugs in, that motor woke the f up. WAY better gas milege, twice as much power, the knock went away. the thing basically runs like new now. couldnt believe the platinum 4's would do something like this but i guess its cause they have no resistance.
Just thought i would share my experience so that others dont do the same..

Message: I have a few posts in here pertaining to my way of tuneup . Only a couple did as I do far as I know and both were amazed how well there truck runs. The total deal consists of.....Brass dist cap, brass rotor, quality silicon plug wires and 40,000 volt veriable output (or words that basicly mean the same)coil and toped off with CHAMPION TRUCK PLUGS. NO MSD.Your truck will run so good you will smile in your sleep. Enjoy.

Message: jayb.... your right. resistance is the problem. Platnium plugs have very very low resistance . This causes early release of voltage allowing weak spark. I believe if memery serves me correct platnium plugs are in the area of 7,000 ohms resistance. The regular copper champion plugs have 75,000 ohm resistance. A hugh differane that allows for really good spark. This is the highest resistance of all plugs except one. The Champion truck plug. It has 85,000 ohm resistance giving a better spark yet and the reason they work so well.
