I have a 106k mile 2000 Club Cab Dak with a 4.7l automatic. 20" wheels and 275/45 uhp tires.
Question:
My mileage has dropped!! i was getting 16-17 mpg just 6 months ago and then to 15 then the last tank 13.5! Same gas station, same driving routine, air filter is clean. What am i missing!?!?

Message: it could be oxygen sensor. Could also be oil sludge build up. with 106k, have you changed your timing chain? Could be time for a tuneup. could be crappy gas. could be air filter, could be fuel filter if you have one.
how many times have you gotten 13.5 mpg? changes in driving conditions will do that. more stop-and-go traffic, faster speeds on highway, changes in weather?

Message: Ya the 20"s have been on there for almost a year. They had little effect on my mileage.
The last 3 tanks have been 14 and less.
The oil buildup, just do a flush? i have a can of flush. i could try that.
I though about o2's they could def be the issue. they have about 40k miles on them.
As for the tune up, i did a plugs, fuel filter. it almost coensided with the dramatic drop. that was early summer. so that could account for the weather. i am in roanoke, tx (DFW) its pleanty hot here. timing is probably un-touched since new. the 4.7 has belts i think.

Message: Remove and clean the throttle body, or at least spray carb cleaner down the TB. If the PCV valve is old (on the side of the oil filler neck), replace it. Check your tire pressure every month.

Message: o2 sensors can go bad at any time or last forever. it all depends on how clean they are. If you're burning bad gas or your cat is blocked up it could have an effect on your cat. I had a bad plug wire and that cylinder would miss a lot and it caused my o2 sensor to go bad pretty quick. fixed that about 4 months ago, havnt had no problems since.
