What would cause oil presure to be high at cold idle (70psi) And low at hot idle (5psi). I am getting these readings from a mech gauge I installed

I'm not sure if the gauge is faulty or what but that is not near enough pressure when hot. How many miles are on it and what weight oil are you using for starters?
