Subject: O2 Sensor
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2002 Dak. I am getting error code P0051 which means the 2/1 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Low/up stream O2 sensor on the passenger side is having a problem. Is this typically a bad sensor, or could it be something else. Truck runs fine, is not using more gas, no smoke coming out of exhaust. Just don't want to spend 100 bucks on a sensor if I don't have to. I have also reset the PCM a couple times just to make sure it is a hard failure.

Thanks,

Terry

The heating element could be gone on this O2 sensor, and it can still be sending the proper signal once it's warm. But I'd replace it, as you will have some trouble in cooler weather.
