Does anyone here know who makes/where to buy the old school
style air intake systems (the cylinder style ones like the ones on the
old rams/ muscle cars) for a 99 dak? I've seen many with them, but
have been searching for a while and cannot find any. Thanks.

If your going to do a total air intake change, I would go with a heavy equipment cylender type air cleaner. They sweral the air throwing the air to the outer serfice and droping most of the dirt out the bottom. I have installed these on trucks in the old days that seen a ton of dirt road, off road use. There the cats mew. They come in several sizes. Just get the size that matches your TB cover and run a hose of sort between them. Very simple instalation. Thay also breath very well . You surprise me . Seems nobody things of these things no more. I really don't see the need. Keep in mind I also drive the Dakota 5.2, 99 4x4. I pull a trailer also and I never have a cooling problem even crossing the rocky mountains where I live at the base. I do have the towing package in mine.

Thanks. The reason why I want a change is that I curently have a
"Cold air intake" with the K&N crap filter on it, you know, the ones
you see on the net everywhere. I bought the truck with it on, and I
want to get rid of it. It does more bad than good. I was going to
find a stock Intake system, via junkyard or whatnot, but no luck so
far and I am not gonna try the dealer as it will be a rip off.
Any idea where I can get one?

Most I used came from equipment junk yards. Most heavy duty equipment dealers have a ton of out dated unsellable equipment they will sell parts off of. You want new go to the same places.
