Subject: Volt meter acting up
IP: Logged

Message:
For a few weeks now, the nedle of my volt meter goes all the way to the right side, causing the check gages light to warn me. Then i quikly turn the keys off and on again and it goes back to normal voltage reading.
It has happened about 6 or 7 times.
I noticed that the battery is getting that blue stuff around its poles and as far as i think, it is from excessive charge from the alternator.
Am i right?
Eventually, i`ll have that checked by a mechanic, but i didn`t yet.
Can any one give me any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

First, if you haven't done so, renew the battery terminal connections (take them loose and clean them up). See if that changes things.

have the battery checked. This is a sign of a shot battery. Internal short. Do check before replacing. other things can cause this such as a wire shorting ouSo many problems .... So little time
