Subject: Instrument Panel acting up (pic) IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 single cab, 2wd, shortbed, 3.9L, base (except for automatic transmission and air conditioning).
about 10 days ago I used my parking brake for the first time in about 2 years. I fully disengaged it before driving again. 3 days ago, after no problems whatsoever, I turn my truck on and the abs light and parking brake light come on and stay on.
I'm thinking, okay, probably a short somewhere, I don't know. Everything still runs fine.
Yesterday, I notice my speedometer doesn't work at any speed below 25 mph. It stays at 0 until I get up over 25 mph.
Can anyone tell me whats going on and/or how to fix it?
Thanks in advance

Message: ABS and brake light on, speedo doesn't work. Classic sign of a blown speed sensor. located on top of differential. Replace sensor.

Message: this problem has been discussed here numerous times. rrr is right. you sould be able to find the sensor at your local parts store for around 30 bucks.

Message: Thanks for the help, you were dead right. Bought the sensor ($38) and replaced it over the weekend. Everything works fine now, and I probably saved a lot of money.
