Subject: Dealer AC Discrepancy

Message:
I had my truck into the dealer this weekend to diagnose my AC, which blows semi-cold for about 20 minutes after a cold start, but not at all after that. I paid $100 for a charge, etc. so they could perform the diagnosis.

They said it was the evap (why wouldn't they?), so I declined the repair (too much $). Picked it up this afternoon (Saturday) and the AC now does not blow cold at all and the compressor does not engage (used to in short intervals).

Is it possible they discharged the system once I declined the repair? If I paid $100 for the recharge, why wouldn't they just let it leak out on its own? My feeling is that the AC should be working at LEAST as good as it was when I took it in.

I hate this dealership and am planning on making a huge complaint to the service manager on Monday when he is in next. (See my related dealership brake system diagnosis here: http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/gen/24521.html).

What arguments, if anyt, can I use as ammo? It just does not make sense that my AC would work WORSE after a supposed recharge.

You techs out there, I would appreciate your honest opinion. If I am way off in my thinking, let me know...

i believe they are obligated by law to evac the system if a leak is found and they are not doing the repair.

If its R-12 .. by law if there is a leak they have to discharge the system .. BUT if its 134-A there is NO LAW that says they have to discharge it ..... if you have a 134-A system.... go back and bitch like hell
