Subject: Speaker Replacement IP: Logged
Message: Need a little help with some speaker replacement. I'm replacing the blown Infinity (rear) speakers with Alpines. Does anyone know the polarity (as in positive/negative) of the factory wires. I'm having to cut off the original plug and add the blade-style connectors since an adapter isn't available (except for special order) Thanks! 2000 RT Club Cab

Message: One thing to know is that the original system is 2 ohms vs 4 ohms as is normal. You can put 4 ohms in, but you'll lose some power. (I'm assuming you have a stock, Infinti system, and are keeping the system stock. Except the speakers, of course) I'm sure the ohms are different, 2 vs 4 came to mind, but could be different. e.g. 4 vs 8? 2 vs 4 came to mind though.

Message: Alpines? HOw much will the 4, 6.5in's cost you.
I went with a China 4 way from Walmart for the front, and Sony's fro the rear. they both sound the same.
The china ones cost $30, and the Sony's const 50, for the pairs.
I too have the infinity system in my QC, and all the gaskets were trash after 4-5 years.

Message: The 4 speakers in my 98 were so bad I couldn't understand the talking on talk radio.
Cambridge was getting rid of their car speaker line and I got 4, plus tweeters. Amazing how good the radio is with decent speakers.
