Subject: 93 dakota A/C type IP: Logged
Message: well i just bought my new condenser and now need to recharge my system...i was wondering if i had R12 or the other typ...also i was wondering if it would be best to convert the a/c to the newer type? and how much it may cost to do so..thanx for all help and info

Message: convert, because you can do it yourself. Go to Napa or your local parts store and buy the 134 A retro fit kit.Goodluck. Oh you need a new drier also, about 25 bucks.

Message: It's more involved than that, to do it right.
If it's R12 (and 93 was a transition year), it will have Schrader valves, just like your tires. If it's R134a, it will have quick-connect snap fitting valves.
