Message: yes, it has a cooler built into the radiator. what you want to do is add an aux. cooler to keep the tranny temps lower. it won't run any different but your tranny will thank you by lasting longer.

Message: He's right. You won't notice any improvements in performance. But it will last longer. If the weather is really hot, sometimes the trans slows down and doesn't shift well.
There are a number of good products available. Look for a well known name, like Hayden or Be Cool. Install the biggest one that will fit. Price rang from about $100-600, depending on the cooler and installation method. More if you have a shop do the install.
You best bet is to go to the boneyard. Find a Ram or Dakota with a heavy duty and towing cooling package. Take all the parts you need and install it just like the factory did.

Message: If the lines, where they go into the radiator, swing around in front, there is a mini cooler in front of the radiator, the heavy duty cooling package. If not, there is room in front of the radiator, even with A/C
3-speed? what year?

Message: Neither did I for awhile. On my 4.7 you gotta peak beneath the radiator and other jumbled piping and wiring and you'll see two steel lines that come from the tranny to the radiator but they're not out there plain as day and easy to find at a glance.
